  4. For spherical contact lenses the 
  5. power is specified in diopters just 
  6. as with spectacle lens powers.  The 
  7. lens power for RGP lenses can be 
  8. measured on a lensometer just as 
  9. spectacles, the lens is held against 
  10. the lens stop.  Hydrogel lenses 
  11. require that the water be blotted 
  12. off the surface before measuring 
  13. them in the same way.
